Yolo Audubon is an all-volunteer-staffed organization. There is no shortage of opportunity for you to help with our avian citizen-science and conservation efforts, to help us make a difference in the community, and to help us find new ways to grow. Here are some ways to get involved:
Lead a field trip…or a beginning bird walk.

Whether it’s backyard birds, birds in your local park or patch, or perhaps your favorite valley, mountain or coastal birds…if you’d like to lead a destination trip or local walk, we’d love to support you! Contact our current Field Trips Chairperson with your ideas.
Participate in our Phenology Study at Bobcat Ranch.

YAS has been performing a bi-weekly phenology bird study at California Audubon’s Bobcat Ranch (Winters) since 2016. We gather data on bird species, counts, behavior, habitat and weather conditions over a prescribed 2-mile route on the ranch. More information and the option to sign up for the phenology email list is here.
Participate in our annual Putah Creek Christmas Bird Count.

Since 1971, our CBC has been collecting and submitting valuable data about current species abundance, historical trends, and effects of climate change and habitat loss. We depend on over 80 volunteers to help organize and perform the count, compile the data, and host the post-count potluck supper. Contact information for current CBC Area Leaders is here.
Among other findings, our CBC has provided valuable data about the effects of West Nile Virus on Yellow-billed Magpie populations.
Social media and public relations.
