Well, it is that time of the year, that is, time for The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC). The dates of the count period this year are February 17-20. As in previous years, one can go solo by counting the birds in your yard, neighborhood or favorite haunt, or you can also join a group like the Friends of West Pond and the Friends of North Davis Ponds. The Friends of West Pond will conduct the count on Saturday, February 18, from 3:30 PM to dusk, and Sunday, February 19, at 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Those wishing to participate should meet at the greenbelt gazebo at the west end of Isle Royale Lane, in Davis.
The Friends of North Davis Pond will conduct its GBBC on Saturday, February 18, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Those wishing to participate should meet in the parking lot adjacent to 3500 Anderson Road (Tandem Properties), in Davis. The leader, Ed Whisler, can be contacted by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by phone at 916-204-0471, for more information.
