Here’s a chance to see some shorebirds as they migrate south after breeding. During the fall, some birds like Elegant Tern and Heermann’s Gull take advantage of the west coast of California to feed their summer-hatched generation. We’ll be observing this on our tour around Bolinas Lagoon. Other species we may see are shorebirds: Whimbrel, Long-billed Curlew, Sanderlings, and sandpipers along the beach. Offshore, we’ll be looking for south-migrating species such as Common, Pacific and Red-Throated Loons.
Meet at 7:00 a.m. at the Marketplace Shopping Center, near Big 5 Sporting Goods in Davis. (West Covell & Highway 113; map below)
Bring binoculars, spotting scope if you have one, snacks, lunch and beverages. If you plan on driving, please RSVP to the trip leaders.
This is a middle-of-week, all-day birding trip. We hope you can join us.
